  • Marrakech Family Planner screenshot

The idea — A bespoke trip companion for our family week in Marrakech — so we could shape each day on the fly, show the kids where we were headed and give them a kid-friendly history of what they were seeing.

How we built it — Day-by-day itinerary, souvenir shopping list, illustrated place cards with bite-sized history, and a live MAD ↔ GBP converter — all themed in desert tones.

Usage snapshot — Used every day of the trip by us and tracked by our families back home; since picked up off the internet by several other families planning their own Morocco trips.

    • Used daily across 7-day trip
    • 5+ families now using it
    • 100% kid-approved
  • Knowdle screenshot

The idea — A daily cultural puzzle, built to stay close to my dad who lives far away — and to friends scattered everywhere — through one shared two-minute ritual.

How we built it — Five clues, one answer, a tiered score that rewards solving early, and shareable results that spark a daily group-chat thread.

Usage snapshot — Played daily by friends and family across 5 countries — and the chat about each round has become as good as the game itself.

    • Players in 5 countries
    • Daily streak: 60+ days
    • ~2 min per round
  • Project Artemis screenshot

The idea — Get the kids genuinely excited about NASA's Artemis II mission — and make them feel like they were flying along with the crew, not just watching from Earth.

How we built it — Illustrated crew portraits, mission-accurate scenes and a guided story arc that lets kids play through the journey around the Moon.

Usage snapshot — The kids became Artemis super-fans overnight; shared online and a few hundred people have used it since.

    • ~300 visitors
    • 4 crew members brought to life
    • Kids: officially obsessed
  • Family Meal Planner screenshot

The idea — A single hub for the messy bits of family life — meals, childcare and the weekly schedule, all in one place.

How we built it — Drag-and-drop weekly planner, a recipe library and shared childcare slots on a household dashboard.

Usage snapshot — Hasn't been picked up and used — Mella isn't interested in tracking digitally. A key learning: don't build until you know your customer actually wants the thing you're building.

    • Built in a weekend
    • Active users: 0
    • Lessons learned: priceless
  • Fitness Hub

The idea — A stripped-back personal tracker built around one goal: 80kg → 70kg, sustainably, without the bloat of mainstream calorie apps.

How we built it — Terminal-style UI with weekly weigh-ins, gym and swim pills, calorie/macro estimation and a tips engine that nudges based on trends.

Usage snapshot — My daily driver — weigh-ins, workouts and meals logged every week as I chip away at the target.

    • Target: 80 → 70kg
    • Logged daily
    • Audience of 1 (me)
